- This paper explores themes in Freire's ideas and suggests ways from the literature that this can be applied to primary education. - In Indonesia, this can be seen in the development of the Merdeka curriculum, which gives students the freedom to choose the learning method that best suits their needs and interests. - Freire said that education should encourage students to think critically and participate in social change. He believed that education should be dialogic where teachers and students engage in a mutually beneficial learning process. Freire suggested that education be more interactive and participatory, and not like the "banking model". Teachers should not be only sources of knowledge, but rather facilitators who help students discover their own knowledge. - In modern primary education this can be applied through activities that involve discussion, collaboration and exploration of new ideas, so students feel more involved. - Teachers can involve students in the decision-making process or joint problem-solving, so students feel responsible for their own learning. - Using interactive worksheets (ISW) can facilitate student interaction with teaching material and improve conceptual understanding. Students can learn at their own paces. - Online tools such as Socrative allows teachers to create quizzes and monitor student progress in real time. Dynamic feedback and dynamic interactions lend to more dialogic education. - One research suggested the importance of positive interactions to help students feel motivated and valued. - Students must develop the ability to analyze and criticise social conditions and actively participate in social change. Freire calls this process conscientization. In primary education, we can do this to encourage students to reflect on their experiences. - Students must be encouraged to think critically about why certain historical events happened, who benefitted and who suffered, for example - Students must also be encouraged to question the social situations around them - One study applied participatory action research in art practice to increase individual consciousness - Environmental consciousness or topics about civics and local government is also something that can be used to bring about this mindset. - Finally, Freire also argues that education must be inclusive and everyone must have equal access to quality education. Freire also said that education must be relevant to students' backgrounds. Students need to see a connection between their everyday lives and what they are learning. - Our approach must value cultural diversity and language and the special needs of students. Teachers are encouraged to be sensitive to the needs of each student and respond equitably. - Humanistic and inclusive education is very important in creating learning environments that support all students. Universal Design for Learning approach can be applied to eliminate physical barriers. - In Indonesia, many challenges remain in implementing Freire's ideas. Heavily relying on standardized tests and lack of training for teachers is a huge barrier.
