- Cook the vegetable
- Make "thirapatha"/ "thalimpu" with mustard seeds and hing. Include curry leaves if not spinach.
- Add turmeric and cook the vegetable
- If spinach, add jeera
- Make Paste
- Take channa dal - around 2 tbsp or so and soak it for a few minutes
- Blend into paste along with grated coconut, coriander, green chillies
- Add a drop of tamarind if curd is not sour
- Add jeera if not added while cooking vegetable
- Add blended paste to the cooked vegetable once the water content of vegetable has gone
- Add salt to taste
- Let it cook for a while
- Add "majjiga"
- Mix curd and some water and make it a liquid consistency
- Add it to the cooking mixture
