In physics when we say an element is elastic it means the ability of a material to deform elastically and return to its original shape when the applied stress is removed. It is not that which resists the stress but the one that deforms and returns it's original shape. Similarly antifragility isn't resilience or robustness but the ability to get better in the face of adversity. --- To refer to the kind of power possessed by the Hydra of Lerna, to talk about things that get stronger when they are harmed, Taleb proposes the term antifragile: “Antifragility is beyond resilience or robustness. The resilient resists shocks and stays the same; the antifragile gets better.” - [[Ikigai]]
