The Bechdel test is a measure of women's representation in fictio, based on three criteria: a work must have at least two women who talk to each other, and their conversation must be about something other than a man. It was created by cartoonist Alison Bechdel in 1985 and has become a simple tool to highlight the male-dominated nature of media, even though passing it does not mean a work is feminist.
