- They sell fish for living
- She had to go to a bigger school that was further away after 5th standard
- Her parents did not want to send her so far away and did not send her to school
- Priya joined her parents in selling fish
- DBRC conducted awareness program and Priya started coming to OLC
- She was able to keep up with the school going children and wanted to rejoin school
- Helped her rejoin school for 6th standard

- 2 daughters in the house - she is the second one
- Her father left at an early age
- Poor financial condition
- They sell hair and pick plastic waste
- The two daughters did not go to school and were taken to work
- Children started joining OLC center
- Her mother was happy that she was going to school
- The family dreams of her to become a nurse

- 100 families. All religions and castes live here
- Families work in labour
- Most families can't make their ends
- Parents have an interest to help them learn but not able to manage because of financial situation. Children used to go with parents to work
- Children were made aware about the government schemes, hygiene and the importance of education
- Personal hygiene has improved
- Confidently participating in competitions
- Children have rejoined school
- Increase in awareness about child marriages
- Cultural activities are being conducted

### OLC Report Vennigalla Center
- 150 families in this area. The primary occupation - beggars, waste pickers, selling plastic, selling hair
- Personal hygiene is a major issue
- Mother and father go to work at 6 and children are left to their own devices
- Children would hunt birds. Though they were enrolled in school they would not go
- Lot of migration happen in this community
- OLC has helped children get happier
- Children go to school now and take bath twice a day
- Children respect the elders and how to talk to them
### OLC Report CBN Colony Narasaraopet
- 80 families in this area. Waste picking community in this area. Most adults would drink and not send children to school. The children would mostly catch fish or pluck tamarind from trees, or find mushrooms to sell.
- Even the children would pick up habits like drinking and would not go to school
- Lot of migrants in this community as well. No Aadhar, Voter card etc.
- Survey was conducted. All the school dropouts were gathered and spoken to. They joined these children in particular to OLCs and helped them join the mainstream system.
- There is an awareness in the community about their situation. They understand the importance of education and are not availing government benefits.
### Case Study Mary - CBN Colony
- Elder of two daughters, 2nd standard
- She could not join school without having an Aadhar card for Mary
- Mary was disappointed seeing all other children going to school
- Mary's Aadhar card has now been applied for through DBRC
- In the OLC she has learnt Telugu alphabet and also 'gunintalu'. She has also learned basic numbers and is ready to join school.
- She is now encouraging her other friends also to join OLC center
### OLC Report YSR Colony Vijayawada
- ST Community of around 50 families
- Waste picking, fish catching community
- They were getting discriminated by other families in the area
- Children can now confidently introduce themselves
### OLC Report Denduluru, Eluru
- Though I have stayed here for long, I never visited S T Colony
- Through DBRC I visited for the first time and then met the community leaders and children
- Nobody goes to school other than 3-4 children
- Waste picking, fish catching, rat catching was what most children would go for. Families here would go to drainage cleaning work but didn't know how to take care of their personal hygiene.
- Nobody was even there to tell the children not to play near the drainage
- Until May this continued though children started coming to the center
- During April - May mostly played songs and played games
- Children typically dropped out at 5th and 6th standard. Children were being hit at school so they didn't want to go.
- The children were very interested in OLC and would come correctly at 4pm.
- They had a healthy competition and wanted to do better than one another
- Learnt the days of the week, month names and different points about India and Andhra Pradesh.
- We taught them tables 1 to 11.
- They enjoy drawing and dancing a lot
- 80% children rejoined school
- Children are sharing about their issues, their family issues and how they can go about asking for solutions. They are asking about child marriages as well.
- Strong sense of community is present among the children here.
- They are able to speak confidently
- They draw very well
- They are thinking creatively and expressing themselves through dance
- The youth are able to share their problems and challenges and are working with the facilitators to find solutions
- Facilitator feels like she is a family member in the community
