### Purpose - To organise a two day facilitator workshop for DBRC, ViKa facilitators, Sangama facilitators in the month of May. - Communicate effectively the philosophy of joyful learning and democratic spaces and how those are the two key pillars on which our initiative stands. ### Principles - Engaging and enjoyable for facilitators - Addressing language barrier - Telugu, Kannada and Hindi speaking facilitators - Democratic and joyful workshop to model what the centers themselves should be ### Outcome Visioning We are able to host a two day workshop where facilitators participate and internalise the philosophy we have in mind. Sessions are conducted by a diverse group of resource people and a wide range of perspectives are shared. Activities are conducted so all stakeholders feel like a part of a team / movement despite being from different geographies and backgrounds. The facilitators are able to takeaway some actionables that they can then implement in their centres. ### Brainstorming - What do I already know about this project? - I've conducted a few workshops already and I have some experience in how they go. - I've seen the power of singing and dancing and how it can really bring people together. But you need some folks to seed the process and get everyone loosened up. - Making things dialogic is hard but once you have that free flow things become a lot easier. The main thing here again is to help people shed their inhibitions. - What don’t I know that I need to find out? - I need to understand the logistics and costs of a venue in Bangalore - I have no idea how to we can manage two different languages while still being effective - What specific sessions or topics we need to address? We've covered a lot in the past so it also needs to be sufficiently novel while also reinforcing the ideas we want. - Who can I talk to who might provide insights? - Prasanna, Indira, Guru, Abu, Amma, Likhit - What can I read or listen to for relevant ideas? - Need to Google. Nothing off of the top of my head in terms of what I can listen or read. ### Actions - [x] Call @guru regarding potential venue and facilitator options @call ✅ 2023-05-17 - [x] Coordinate with Annamani and confirm dates @call ✅ 2023-05-22 - [x] Speak to all the facilitators about finalised date and make sure they're all there @teachersmeeting ✅ 2023-04-30 - [x] Get quotations from venue and finalise date and time ✅ 2023-05-29 - [x] Make the payment to Fireflies ✅ 2023-05-30 - [x] Make a list of participants gathering information from @guru and @anil ✅ 2023-06-05 - [x] Research on potential topics and sessions that we'd like to conduct ✅ 2023-06-11 - [x] Research and brainstorm some potential activities to try with the facilitators with @amma and @venkatesh ✅ 2023-06-11 - [x] Call Anil regarding accounts breakdown ✅ 2023-06-13 - [x] Clear payment to Fireflies and get invoices ✅ 2023-06-22 - [x] Go over papers on Geeta's session and hand it over ✅ 2023-07-17 - [x] Talk to Henry about reflections from the workshop ✅ 2023-06-27 - [x] Compile everyone's reflections for the workshop ✅ 2023-07-04 - [x] Speak to @srilakshmi about writing a report ✅ 2023-07-17 ### Learnings - Should definitely consider a Friday evening start so we get a night of hanging out and getting to know each other before the event. Logistics are a bit weird but might be worth considering before diving right into it. - Language barrier makes dialogic process almost impossible. Very hard to have a democratic process when there's translations etc. - Too many people can lead to lack of coherence. Too many ideas and thoughts and too many learnings and insights. Need to make sure everyone's on the same page. - Need to learn to let go and not get too affected when things are a little uncomfortable or if there are disagreements amongst participants. - Should try to be more inclusive of all centers and not treat them as second class centers. It's always Avalahalli + 4 but we should see them as 5 ViKa centers.
