We took our children to a field visit today to Chitradurga. We were all super nervous about this given that we were taking over a hundred children and we weren't quite sure how easy it would be to manage them. However, the trip was a resounding success and we al had an absolute blast.
What was especially interesting to see was how the children were not just interested in running around and playing but were quite curious about things. Many children were fascinated by the History of the fort and quite a few children were interested to learn how people lived in the Chandravalli caves. I also had a few children asking me about the windmills we saw on the way and how certain big rocks were balancing on small rocks.
One of our goals has always been to bring out the curiosity in children through our initiative. At the center it's often something we don't get to see much with the children mostly asking questions about their school work or some games they want to play. Whenever I ask them if they'd like to know something they always look to me to introduce a new topic. However, during the field trip when the children's curiosity was on full display. They wanted to know more and explore and take in as much as they could.
Throughout the trip we also found the children were extremely well mannered and understanding of the constraints. The planning as well by our team members was exceptional and doing a recce of the place helped us immensely. This day is going to stay with us for a long time and is truly a watershed moment in our journey.
