Something beautiful happened today at the center. I was playing a game with some of the children. The game involves speed and reaction and requires players to get rid of all the cards in their hand. if you're the last person to react you take all the cards in the round. While playing it is often unclear who the last person is and in many groups I have played in fights and disagreements break out on who was the last person. I myself am fiercely competitive and hesitate to admit that I might have been the last person. Today at the center however no such thing happened. The children who I had seen in the past fight about even the slightest injustice from facilitators were happy to take the cards in the event of a 50-50 situation. They were incredibly honest and would often acknowledge when they had not performed the action in time.
