Today I tried to ask children to make a plan for themselves while we were sitting in a circle. Somehow what I was trying to communicate was not easy for the children to follow. They had probably never explicitly shared any plans they were making. Most children were confused by what I was saying and many reverted to sharing what had already happened. The idea of making a plan each day is quite an effective way to give agency back to the child though. If we can help the children slowly make plans for themselves it allows the facilitator to help them better as well.
