When I went to the center yesterday it was unfortunately raining heavily and children did not come. I had the opportunity to chat with our facilitator. The facilitator is relatively newer to our organisation and somehow in our meetings we have never had the chance to connect. This is fairly obvious but sometimes it's important to pause and think of how important it is to just casually talk with no real agenda. We learnt a lot about each other and I wonder whether how much of an impact the casual tea and conversations I have had over the years with other team members. One thing this facilitator pointed out to me is the impact the center has had on them. We often think in terms of the impact we have on the children and how they might learn but working with the children - we learn a lot and it leaves a profound impact on us. This facilitator was talking about how they drive safer now simply because they pause and think that some child might be running on the streets. A simple but heart touching story.
