We have been doing a small appreciation session during our circle time. Children would share something they have done and the others would clap for them. It was a self reporting mechanism and the children would typically share something they were proud of. The idea was to help low confidence learners and appreciate the small progresses they are making. This has been quite helpful for us and celebrating even small progress and not just big wins really made a huge impact.
Today however something interesting happened. One of the learners lied about something they had done. I knew they were being dishonest because I had worked with the child the previous day. They simply wanted the applause from the other learners. We need to keep an eye on this type of behaviour.
